The Jim s placed a wreath in Arlington at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
1984 Marching season came with a new director Barb Exline as Jim retired with same support staff drum major Eric Bradley. State was held in the Hoosier Dome and we placed 3rd. We had the largest tuba section in my band years at 5 Joe Mills section leader.

The 1985 Season was packed.. We had a new assistant director Larry Brewer who was replaced with the Barry Reasoner who would be the longest serving staff member in Marching Marksmen history as Director and Assistant Director.. Drum majors were Todd Stephens and Dawn Schauberger. Randy Adams came back to help the Drum line. Jeri Herrion worked with the guard. We placed 4th in State at the Dome.
Some how I and Anisa Dietel were chosen to attend Ball state band orchestra clinic. It was amazing to play with strings and humbled by the amount of talent Your playing with.
BAND TRIP!! Marksmen took 3 motor coaches to Miami FL to march in the Orange bowl parade. We got national media attention as NBC broadcast us at the parade.
You can't go to FL with out stopping at Disney World were We marched in a Disney parade and got to see behind the scene as well as spend time in the park and Epcot center.
We then stopped at Medieval Times for a dinner which was a hoot. Another thing You must do in FL is go to a beach so In the morning we played football on Cocoa Beach. I tried to go into the water but it was freezing.. That night at our hotel a ballroom and DJ gave us time to party.
1986 started off with a bang Ronnie James and I were chosen to march the Indianapolis 500 parade in The Hook's All State Band. Dawn Schauberger and I were Drum Majors this Year. Barb Exline left and Johnathon Gurney became Director.. We placed 4th in State. 9 years in a row at 4th or higher at State. Dawn and I gelled into a great team winning every drum major award possible.
The Football team made it to Semi State so we were the half time show along with the opposing teams band. So we were glad to preform in the RCA Dome twice. Although the football team lost we had a great time entertaining the crowd.
